EQC Opt Out – Richmond Hill
GI Builders completed our earthquake repairs through the EQC opt-out system. The quality of the work they undertook was to a very high standard and all the staff onsite were very personable and accommodating.
By far the best service they provided us was managing the whole process directly with the Christchurch EQC Opt-Out team with very little involvement required from ourselves. This required providing the initial documentation up front to get sign off to proceed with the works, managing and getting variations approved once the works had commenced and getting the work settled once the repairs were finished. During the works GI Builders communicated well and made us feel at ease that we were in good hands. I would highly recommend them for any building work and especially for EQC/insurance repairs, as they are proficient, client focused project managers.

My house in Andover Street, Merivale was demolished in mid-2015 due to severe earthquake damage and has been rebuilt in the last 12 months (as at September 2016) by GI Builders Ltd. It was one of four conjoined townhouses that all needed demolition and rebuilding on a common foundation. I cannot praise GI Builders highly enough. The quality of the rebuild is simply outstanding. Grant, Kelly and Mark were a delight to work with and kept me informed, updated and included every step of the way.
The Christchurch reconstruction environment is littered with rebuilds and repairs not up to the required standards, with many failures and liquidations. People waiting, waiting, waiting for resolution. I can honestly state that not for one second was I concerned that this might happen in my case, such was my faith in GI Builders from the outset. They took pride in every aspect of service delivery. They have been excellent in their communications with me and the other townhouse owners, explaining things in laypersons’ terms and allowing time to consider various options. They listened to my suggestions and preferences. They consistently met each deadline and assurance. Their subcontractors worked well together (this is a huge consideration) and met Kelly and Grant’s exacting standards. Their inclusive approach truly gave the project a ‘family’ feel.
